The Dish on Detox

Okay, so I am a maniac about cleanliness. I like things orderly and pollutant-free. I wash my hands several times a day, I never skip a shower just to lounge around on a Sunday afternoon and I rinse my vegetables for a full three minutes before preparation. The question is, how to satisfy my inner clean freak. The answer, DETOX!

WHAT IS A DETOX?

Detox, in nutritional terms, refers to cleansing the body from the inside out. It is believed that years of over-processed foods, too many cocktails, cigarette smoking (first or secondhand), air pollutants and an increasingly sedentary lifestyle all contribute to the toxic buildup in our bodies often causing serious health issues.

HOW A DETOX WORKS

The liver is the body’s main line of defense against toxins. If everything is working properly, blood passes through the liver and harmful substances are filtered out. Kidneys clean the blood by removing urea and mineral salts. The intestines absorb nutrients, water and minerals and carry away waste and the skin eliminates ammonia through sweat glands. Unfortunately, the liver becomes overworked and all these detoxification pathways become clogged, affecting the entire body. By changing our daily diet and exercise routines and utilizing the wide array of detoxifying products at www.i-Supplements.com today, we can give our insides the long overdue scrub they need.

DO’S AND DON’TS:

  • Don’t eat foods that are high in fat or sugar and avoid alcohol, caffeine and bread.
  • Don’t reach for that late night snack. Nothing after 8 p.m. is the general rule.
  • Do drink at least 8 glasses of water per day.
  • Do find the right detoxifying supplement to help with proper digestion and elimination and to increase nutrient absorption and energy.
  • Do get up and sweat a little. Spend at least twenty minutes a day exercising.
  • Do eat foods that enhance the detoxification process. Beets, artichokes and garlic all speed up detox by promoting liver cell renewal and increasing bile production.
  • Do eat fruits and vegetables, lots of them.

At the end of a 10-day detox, you will have infused more fruits and vegetables into your diet, lowered your intake of processed foods, and increased your daily activity. And if you are anything like me, you will have tamed the internal cleansing beast, for a while at least.
